Use
From the
menu bar in the Web Application Designer, you access all of the functions that
you need to create or edit a Web template.

Features
Web Template Menu
New
Choose Web Template ® New, if you want to create a new Web template
that you can then publish as a Web application on an Internet
browser.

Open…
This
function takes you to the BEx Open
Dialog. From here you can
open a Web template in various views to edit it or publish it in the Web
browser. You can also access
the Open… function by clicking
on the Open…
icon on the Web
Application Designer toolbar.
Close
You use this
function to close the Web template.
Delete
You use this
function to delete Web templates that are already saved.
Save
You use this
function to save the changes that you have made to an existing Web template.
Save as…
This
function takes you to the BEx Save
Dialog where you can
save your Web template in your favorites or roles. You can also access the Save and Save As… functions by clicking on the
icon on the Web Application Designer
toolbar.
Import from File…
You use this
function to import back into the Web Application Designer a Web template that
you have edited with an external HTML editor. See also Editing the Web
Templates Further.
Export to File…
You use this
function to export to a file system of your choice a Web template that you
want to edit with an external HTML editor. See also Editing the Web
Templates Further.
Download File from Server
You use this
function to download a Web template directly from the server without opening
it in the Web Application Designer. See also Editing the Web
Templates Further.
Upload File to Server
You use this
function to upload to the server directly a Web template that you have edited
with an external HTML editor. See also Editing the Web
Templates Further.
Execute in the Browser…
You use this
function to publish your Web template on the Web and thereby create a Web
application. You can also call the function from Execute in the Browser on the Web
Application Designer toolbar. See also Creating Web
Applications with the BEx Web Application Designer.
Reset Properties
You use this
function to reset the properties that you have set for a Web template in the
Properties window on the Web Item tab page. This reassigns the default
settings to the Web template. See Web Template

Documents
You use this
function to create, change, and display documents for the Web template. See
also Editing
Documents in the Document Screen and Documents.
Exit
You use this
function to leave the Web Application Designer.
Edit Menu
Delete Web Item
You use this
function to delete a highlighted Web item or HTML element from the Web
template. You can also call the function from Delete Web Item on the Web Application
Designer toolbar.
Copy
You use this
function to copy individual Web items or entire HTML tables to which you have
added Web items so that you can, for example, include them in another Web
template. You can also access this function by clicking on the (Copy) icon on the Web Application Designer
toolbar.
Paste
You use this
function to paste into a Web template any Web items or HTML elements that you
have copied. You can also call the function from Paste on the Web Application Designer
toolbar.

Publish Menu
Into a Role…
You use this
function to publish a Web template in a role so that you can integrate the Web
template into a Portal, for example, at a later stage. See also Role Maintenance
and Integration into the
SAP Enterprise Portal.
Into Enterprise Portal 6.0...
With this
function, you call the Save Dialog that
includes various views of an Enterprise Portal in which a Web template can be
saved. Depending on the view (My
Portfolio, CM Repository View, Collaboration Room, Portal Content, Portal
Roles), either iViews in the Portal or links in Knowledge Management are

Into Enterprise Portal 5.0… ® as iView or as iView file
With this
function you can either save the Web template as an iView in a role or export
it as an iView file for use in the iView studio. See also Integration of SAP BW

BEx Broadcaster
This
function starts the BEx Broadcaster, with which you can precalculate and
distribute queries and Web applications. See also Publishing Queries and
BEx Web Applications.
Copy URL to Clipboard
You use this
function to copy the URL of the Web template to the clipboard so that you can
call it in a Web browser or send it as an e-mail, for example. You have to
save the Web template before you can do this.
Insert Menu
Table
You use this
function to insert HTML tables into your Web template. If you have already
inserted an HTML table into your Web template and want to edit this table, you
have several options under Insert
® Table, such as, Insert Row, Insert Column, Delete Cell, and
so on. You can also call this function by clicking on the Table icon on the Web Application
Designer toolbar. See also Layout Design of Web

Picture…
You use this
function to insert images into your Web template, for example, company logos.

Print Stylesheet…
You use this
option to select a print stylesheet to form the basis of a printout for your
Web application. See also Print

Tools Menu
Wizard…
You use this
function to call the Web application wizard. The Web application wizard helps
you to create a Web application simply and easily by taking you step by step
through the process. See also Creating Web

Query Designer…
You use this
function to call the BEx Query Designer to create or change a query. See also
Query Design:
BEx Query Designer
View Definition ® Based on a Query or Based on Another View
With this
function, you can generate and save a new query view by navigating in an
existing query or in an existing query view. The selected query or the
selected query view is automatically embedded in the standard Web template for
ad-hoc analysis. See Standard Web Template

Settings
You use this
function to determine and save the general settings for all Web templates and
Web applications that you create. You can select the stylesheet that you want
to use as the basis for your Web applications and determine the path for the
Web browser or the HTML editor. See also Determining

Layout Menu
Show Borders
You use this
function to show or hide the borders of an HTML table during the design
process. See also Layout Design of Web
Templates.
Display HTML Tags
You use this
function to display the HTML tags in the layout view. See also Layout Design of Web
Templates.
View Menu
You use the
options under View to change the
appearance of the Web Application Designer.
Toolbar
Choose View ® Toolbar to show or hide the
toolbar.
Status Bar
Choose View ® Status Bar to show or hide the status
bar in the bottom margin of the Web Application Designer.
Web Items
Choose View ® Web Items to display the Web Items window again if you closed it
earlier. See also BEx Web Application

Properties
If you
choose View ® Properties, you can display the Properties window again if you closed
it earlier. See BEx Web Application
Designer.
Window Menu
Cascading
You use this
function to overlap several Web templates that you have open in the Web
template window. See BEx Web Application

Horizontally
You use this
function to arrange several Web templates that you have open next to one
another in the Web template window.
Vertically
You use this
function to arrange several Web templates that you have open below one another
in the Web template window.
Arrange Symbols
You use this
function to arrange the Web template symbols if you have previously minimized
the Web template window.

Help Menu
Content
You use this
function to reach the context sensitive help in the online
documentation.
Info…
From Help ® Info… you see the version of the
Web Application Designer with the number of the support package. You can quote
this information to SAP if you need to send any problem messages.
