Effects on Existing Data
●
To continue support
for the existing customer scenarios, the BEx Web
Application Designer and the
Web runtime from SAP NetWeaver ‘04 are
still available.
●
Web templates from
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and Web templates from SAP
NetWeaver ‘04 are saved in
different stores.
Effects on Data Transfer
The migration tool for Web templates in the BEx Web
Application Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 allows data to be transferred from
Web templates from SAP NetWeaver ‘04 into a Web template from SAP
NetWeaver 7.0. This transfer is not always complete, and generally requires
users to make subsequent manual corrections and adjustments. As part of this
process, a new object is created in the new store. The existing data is not
changed.
Due to significant functional changes, it is not
possible to automatically migrate existing Web templates. This applies, in
particular, to Web applications in which customer-specific enhancements have
been made (such as enhancements with the Web Design API for tables or
enhancements with JavaScript). Manual adjustments may be required to ensure
the Web applications behave correctly.
Web templates from SAP NetWeaver ‘04 and
earlier SAP BW releases can be migrated using the migration tool from the BEx
Web Application Designer for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 when the corresponding Web
templates are opened with the BEx Web Application Designer from SAP NetWeaver
7.0.
Once this type of Web template is saved in the BEx
Web Application Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the migrated version of the
Web template can no longer be used with the BEx Web Application Designer from
SAP NetWeaver ‘04 or earlier SAP BW releases. The migrated Web templates
no longer appear in the open dialog of the BEx Web Application Designer from
SAP NetWeaver ‘04 or earlier SAP BW releases.
After migration, the original version of the Web
template from SAP NetWeaver ‘04 and earlier SAP BW releases is still
available in the Web Application Designer from SAP NetWeaver ‘04 and
appears in the open dialog. You can migrate as often as you want since Web
templates from SAP NetWeaver '04 are not deleted. The different versions of
the Web applications (SAP NetWeaver '04 und SAP NetWeaver 7.0) are saved (in
different formats) in different database tables.
Web templates for the new Web runtime from SAP
NetWeaver 7.0 can only be created with the BEx Web Application Designer from
SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
We recommend that you do not use any queries and
query views from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 in the BEx Web Application Designer from
SAP NetWeaver '04.
If you are migrating Web templates and Web items
from SAP NetWeaver '04 to SAP NetWeaver 7.0, see also SAP Notes 832713
and 832712.
